What is the Pearl Procedure?

The Pearl procedure is a "Thermal Peel" laser treatment. The Thermal Peel reduces wrinkles, uneven texture and solar damage with fewer treatments and less overall downtime than other technologies.

How does the Pearl treatment work?

During treatment, as the top layer of the skin is removed, there is a simultaneous thermal effect on the remaining epidermis at a controlled depth. This creates a natural protective dressing on the skin to minimize "social" downtime during the restorative process. Most importantly, this state of the art technology reduces risk of complications that are common in similar procedures offered by other outdated lasers.

Through this amazing technology, collagen is stimulated and skin is rejuvenated. This means wrinkles are diminished, pore size is reduces, scars are less noticeable, sun spots are lightened, and your skin can be left with an incredible, more even-textured, youthful glow.

What is a Pearl treatment like?

A topical anesthetic is applied to the skin by our team for maximal comfort. Our physicians perform the procedure themselves, unlike other medical aesthetic spas.

ClarityMD’s very own physicians gently and attentively guide the Pearl laser over the skin while continuously communicating with their patients. As previously stated, this procedure gently and simultaneously removes the top layer of the epidermis (skin layer) and warms a layer of tissue below it, which stimulated collagen and forms a protective barrier. The treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes for a full face.

What can I expect after the treatment?

Patients describe a very warm sensation immediately after the procedure that feels like a sunburn, but is NOT painful. This sensation subsides within 5-10 minutes and resolves by the time patients arrive home. The ClarityMD team will apply pure vasoline on the skin to keep it moist for extra protection. Without feeling like it, the skin looks simply like a pink sunburn for about 3-4 days. This is the only reason there is what is called “social” downtime. Throughout these days, the skin may feel itchy as the skin under this protective barrier is rejuvenated. It is of UTMOST importance to stay out of the sun and keep the skin clean. We will give you clear instructions at your consultation and will be following you every step of the way.

When will I see results?

Results are noticeable around day 3 or 4, when the revitalized skin under the protective layer resurfaces.

Why should I have a Pearl treatment?

Most patients will choose a Pearl treatment because it significantly improves the skin's texture, pigmentation, sun damage, and wrinkles in only one or two procedures without clinical downtime. There are only three to four days of "social" downtime.

How many treatments will I need?

Most patients will experience the best results after two treatments, spaced one month apart.

How do I prevent a reoccurrence of my previous skin conditions?

Unfortunately, the aging process continues despite all efforts. However, patients can help slow this process with the help of our recommendations on skin care regimens, limiting sun exposure, avoid smoking and ALWAYS using sunscreen.

Does Cutera have an FDA clearance for the Pearl laser?

Yes, Cutera received FDA clearance in March 2007 for the treatment of wrinkles and ClarityMD is proud to provide this procedure to our patients!
