What REALLY helps to reverse sun damage

As summer wraps up, we start to really notice the downside from all of those fun days in the sun. New freckles, sun spots and the dreaded wrinkles. No worries, we can help!

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, can help reverse the signs of sun damage (really!!) At ClarityMD, we are proud to offer the LimeLight facial. This procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photo damage. The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. ClarityMD aesthetician, Megan DeCamp is a true believer in the power of IPL. She has seen beautiful results, first hand with many of her patients. We sat down with Megan for a quick Q&A to get all the details on this fantastic and effective treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

One to four treatments, four weeks apart are usually required to see results, depending on the level of sun damage.

Is it painful?

It can be a little uncomfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a slight pinching sensation. For those highly sensitive to pain, we do offer Pro-Nox before any treatment for a small fee.

Is the service time consuming?

Most treatments should take less than one hour, depending on the area(s) being treated. Your aesthetician can give you an approximate time on the day of treatment.

Will I have downtime?

You will likely experience some social downtime. Immediately after your service, you may experience redness, slight swelling and initially, darker spots. This is only temporary! Between one to three weeks, darkened spots will begin to fade and flake. Redness and/or telangiectasia will fade as your complexion improves.

Will the spots come back?

As you expose your skin to new sun damage, additional spots may appear but we can treat them as well. Your number one line of defense is to always, regardless of the season, apply broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Also, having the right home skincare regimen can make all the difference. Your aesthetician will recommend the best products for your skin.

IPL can improve skin texture, tone and color of your complexion.
